From the beginning of the project I worked quickly in exploring different ideas and finding a concept. By doing this so early in the project I found it helped me in developing my work and using my time as effectively as possible from the beginning.
The brief I set myself at the beginning was what I kept with throughout the project, I did change the context slightly after discussing my idea with my tutor. However this was all early on in the project so it didn't cause any problems for me. I kept to the theme of interdependence throughout all of my development work and tried to make it as clear as possible. I could maybe have made the idea clearer later on in the project as I feel it may have been lost slightly towards the end.
Through the design process I followed suggestions from my tutors and peers in what the most effective way to go in order to communicate my ideas best. I documented everything I did throughout the project. I used my blog to help me quickly organise my ideas and research. Having everything in one place made it easier to visualise the work that I was producing, I will continue to use this method in future projects. The research that I produced for this project was vital in moving my designs on into a direction that was unique from the film that I was taking inspiration from, allowing me to add my own ideas.
I feel that I was focused throughout this project and had a strong concept, I produced work which I am happy with and that I feel could contribute to building my portfolio. I kept to the workshop rules and health and safety guidelines when using products and equipment. I also ensured that I patch tested any products I used on my model before the day of the photoshoot. I kept closely to my time plan, which I modified throughout to make sure I would complete the project.
The problem that I encountered with this project was that I was set on my idea from the beginning and quickly formed an idea of what the final outcome should be, if I had waited and explored different ideas more I might have produced more varied designs. I think this will be important in my final major project to ensure that I have an outcome that shows a process of exploration.
This project has taught me that I can work well as part of a team, I learnt that communication is key to working well with other people on a creative process and that it’s important to negotiate with people to come to decisions that benefit the project.
Overall I am proud of the work that I produced during this project and I have learnt a lot about the way I work which will benefit me as I go into my final major project.
