Final Project Proposal

Since beginning to study on the art foundation course I have a greater understanding of the way that I work, I can use this knowledge to gain the most from every project. I find that I am now able to work in a more focused way as I have developed my planning skills through stages one and two. I can manage my work so that I compete the project to a high standard within the time that I have. I chose the 3D pathway as I will go on to study on the special effects make-up degree at AUB and from here I aspire to a career in a special effects make-up for film. This aspiration has informed my project proposal as I will be creating 3D make-up effects for screen. This project will allow me to gain 3D make-up skills and learn more about video editing.

For my final major project I will create a short video for screen with the intention to advertise the next TV series of ‘American Horror Story’ which will have a religious theme and include key information about the show. I may also create a series of images for posters to go along with the video for poster adverts. I will research and reference urban myths and past series of the show. I will also look into films and adverts with a similar dark theme. The audience will be people that are interested in the horror genre, watching tv, it may also be shown on social media. I will aim for the video to be memorable and to capture the attention of the audience quickly, this may be done through the content being shocking or through video editing techniques. It’s important for the realisation to have the same effect wherever its being viewed. I am going into this project seeking to learn more about video making and develop my editing skills as this is an area which I have been interested in for a while. I will also be looking to grow my hair styling skills and create more adventurous silicone prosthetics than I have before.

Throughout the project I will make sure to evaluate my project every week to view the evolution of my ideas and compare my work to the brief and time plan so I can quickly see if I am on track with my work. In my evaluations I will make quick bullet point lists of things I need to change or improve which I can reference. I will also produce a mid project evaluation so that I can take a step back and see how the project is progressing overall and make any changes that are necessary. I will keep to a time plan throughout this project to ensure that I achieve everything I am setting out to do.
